| Three regulars at our home for a bit of whole corn scattered on the lawn. We have between two and seven deer every day ....roaming through at random times of the day or evening. We can walk right up to the rear, sliding door glass (which brings us face to face within 20 feet) and they do not race away....getting used to us apparently after almost eight years. This picture of deer was taken by a smart phone from the rear glass, sliding door. The Sand Hill Cranes in the lower picture are even more friendly. They will walk right up to us if we are on the driveway or in the backyard and simply stand - within 2 to 3 feet - like a member of the group wanting to enter the conversation. With heads and body fully extended upward, they stand 4 to 5 feet tall. |
